Used as a spare car in 2003, and raced by James Thompson for the 2004 season up to the Knockhill round. Moments after qualifying on the front row of the grid the car was involved in an accident resulting in heavy damage.

I had saved a set of tyres until the end of the session and was waiting to go out for a last stab at pole, but when I went out I felt the engine tightening so I backed right off to take the car back to the pits. Coming through the chicane the head gasket blew, sending the water temperature through the roof. I had to pull off the track, and was just about to get out when Matt Neal came over the hill and lost control on some water on the track. He came spearing into me causing huge damage. The chassis leg is doubled back, and we've now got a long night ahead of us.

The team were able to repair the car enough to be able to race the following day but ultimate the damage was too much and the car was replaced by the newly-built V2004-011 for the remainder of the season.

Following the accident the remains of the shell was converted to a simulator.

The chassis was aquired in 2017 by ABS Motorsport for display in their reception.
